Traditional Braces In Memphis TN
Braces are a complete solution for straightening your teeth. Some people are happy with their teeth, but would like a little straighter smile. These are the people who braces were made for. Greg Boucek DDS and Jim Brawner DDS have provided Memphis patients with straighter teeth through traditional braces for years. If you’re happy with your teeth’s health but want a more confident smile, they will work with you to achieve just that.
You Deserve Straight Teeth
You probably know someone who’s had traditional braces before, or at least seen them in the movies. Traditional braces are brackets and bands cemented to the surfaces of the teeth, and connected with a wire. The brackets and bands are placed squarely on the teeth, while the wire runs through each bracket. This applies pressure to the teeth in such a way that the teeth straighten out over time.
How Long Does It Take?
The amount of time each patient requires braces varies. In severe cases, braces can be necessary for 24 months. Other times, a person can have a beautifully straight smile in as little as six months. Most people fall somewhere in between. When you come in for your first consultation Dr Boucek or Dr Brawner can give you a close estimate of how long you should expect to wear braces.
Your Special Plan To A Beautiful Smile
Because every case is different, we treat it as such. Each patient has the same goal, straighter teeth, but we know that there are different paths to reach that goal. In your first appointment we will take an impression of your teeth. This will help us create the customized plan to fit you. During your second appointment, a few weeks later, we will install the braces. Expect to be a little sore for the first several days after the braces are applied. We can offer pain medication upon request.
We will have you come in once a month to check in, and apply a new, stronger wire to straighten the teeth a little more each time. Again, expect your teeth to be a little sore for several days after each checkup. Then, once it’s time, we will remove the braces.
After the braces are removed, we will take a final impression, and create a custom retainer for you. We offer removable and fixed retainers for your convenience. If you choose a removable retainer, we recommend you wear it during all hours for the first few months, except during meals. For patients who chose fixed retainers, we will remove it after several months, and provide a removable retainer to wear at night.
